they have been trying to tear down for damn near ten years... so they can develop it and all the land around it (several acres of beautiful forest) into another McDonalds or some bullshit

Can't say for sure but many look as if they have outlived there usefullness...others may be because people moved away and no one did anything with the land or the buildings...all I know is there are a lot of them in my area...
