Hey, Vectorinos, it’s time for a little trip to the Great White North. To be honest, Skippy the Undead Intern got really excited about Canada while researching Wolverine online, so now we gotta do THIS. So let’s dig into the predominant Canuck superhero team: ALPHA FLIGHT!
Alpha Flight was established as the premier Canadian superhero team, but James Hudson and Department H were looking ahead. Knowing some valuable potential future superheroes need to cut their teeth before they can be ready for prime time.
And thus two junior teams were born: Gamma Flight for raw, untrained recruits, and Beta Flight for super-powered recruits that have skill and experience, but aren't quite ready for the main team yet. After working and training on these teams, heroes could graduate to a higher their team when ready. But when the Canadian government cut funding for Department H, all the teams were without support. Hudson decided to take Alpha Flight out as a private organization and took many members along, but many Gamma and Beta members were left out in the cold.
And that's when some nefarious enemies were able to recruit former trainees ike Diamon Lil here into a new "evil" team: Omega Flight. They sought to get revenge on Guardian for abandoning them, and during a climatic battle, he was seemingly killed.
Diamond Lil, a mutant with invulnerable, diamond-hard skin and super strength, did eventually find redemption and join Alpha Flight at a later date.
And Guardian ended up not being, ya know...dead...so that's nice.
