OPERATION GALACTIC STORM part 18:
With Cap’s Avenger’s team now prisoners of the Kree Empire, the second Avengers “Peace Envoy” has entered Shi’ar Empire space, wayyyyyy on the other side of…errrr…space, I guess. Led by Monica Rambeau, the current Captain Marvel, the team consists of Vision, Wonder Man, Scarlet Witch, Living Lightning, Starfox, and Eric Masterson who is currently standing, quite literally for Thor…as Thor.
And unfortunately, as soon as they exit the stargate the team’s Quinjet finds a small Shi’ar settlement seemingly under attack by a Kree starship. And although the Shi’ar are able to shoot the ship down, they send out a call for reinforcements.
The Avengers, not wanting to instantly get in a firefight attempt to flee the scene, but a little too late. They are intercepted by this guy: Gladiator, Praetor of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard. Not only the leader of the Imperial Guard, but also by far their strongest member. He’s basically Superman. But, like, if Superman were a mohawk-wearing, angry asshole.
Although the Vision warns them that based on their files, Gladiator is practically invulnerable and undefeatable, Wonder Man tries his best. His best ends with him getting absolutely whipped by this big purple space jerk.
Thor, who was initially feeling too insecure to fight, jumps in and cuts loose on Gladiator. He nearly loses, but rallies at the thought of his son on Earth being in danger from this intergalactic war. Unleashing a full can of Thor rage on this guy, he comes out of top and manages to briefly knock Gladiator out.
And before he could wake back up, Thor throws him through the stargate to Earth and then uses his enchanted hammer, Mjolnir to implode the gate. This collapses one side of the gate, theoretically protecting Earth….but also cutting off their way back home. Oopsie. Also, they get surrounded and outnumbered by a massive Shi’ar fleet.
Avengers: bad at their job.
