Hey, Vectorinos, it’s time for a little trip to the Great White North. To be honest, Skippy the Undead Intern got really excited about Canada while researching Wolverine online, so now we gotta do THIS. So let’s dig into the predominant Canuck superhero team: ALPHA FLIGHT!⁣⁣

Orphaned as a youth and separated from his twin sister, Montreal-born Jean-Paul Beaubier found his way into the world of competitive skiing, where he excelled. He also excelled at being a jerk all the time. But soon, his mutant powers awakened, revealing his ability to move at supersonic speeds. The slopes no longer a challenge, he left that life out of boredom. Which is the most French Canadian superhero origin ever.⁣

Eventually, (after a quick and secret stint as a member of a violent Quebec separatist group) Jean-Paul joins Alpha Flight as the hero Northstar, known for both his incredible speed, as well as his bad attitude. It's here he reunites with his twin, Jeanne-Marie, who has similar mutant powers and goes by the codename Aurora. When working together, they can also generate energy blasts and other abilities. Twin power!⁣

Northstar was possibly the first openly gay superhero out there and has spent his career as an advocate and role model for both mutant and LGBTQ+ communities in the Marvel Universe. For a bit of a jerk, he sure found his way into being a good dude.⁣
