Like most secret military installations housing sensitive and dangerous equipment and info, security was an afterthought and the General's civilian daughter was allowed to have the run of the place. And making everyday "Bring Your Daughter To Top Secret Work Day," didn't work so great for ol' Thunderbolt as his daughter, Betty, fell in love with nerdy Bruce. Which angered an old, angry bag of toxic masculinity like Ross to no end. Suck it, tough dads...nerds will marry your daughters!⁣

Anyway, after Bruce got Hulkified, Ross was put in charge of hunting down the Hulk, leading a cross-military unit of soldiers and scientists called the Hulkbusters. It's super awkward when you daughter's boyfriend turns into a radiation ogre and then you gotta sends tanks and bomber jets to kill him.⁣

Thunderbolt Ross loses perspective quickly and becomes obsessed with Banner and the Hulk, often employing nefarious means, including making deals with super villains like Abomination and the Leader, to capture or kill the Hulk. ⁣

Never successfully killing his white whale, this highly decorated Ahab eventually not only drives his daughter into marrying Bruce, but he also ends up dying. But don't worry...no one ever stays dead in comics for long...⁣
