Meet the deadly assassin known as Machete. ⁣Named as much because, geez, this dude in a really into machetes, I guess. Although, by "dude," we should point out that we meant "multiple dudes."

You see, the original Machete, Ferdinand Lopez, was a South American revolutionary who began to take work as an international assassin in an effort to raised funds for the fight back home. His first mercenary mission was joining Batroc's Brigade and helping that French goon to steal Captain America's shield. Accomplishing their mission, the Brigade delivered the shield to State International, a rival company to Stark Enterprises, who were trying to duplicate the unique metal. But then the trio got really drunk and attacked Cap again on a dare and all got hilariously WRECKED by the hero.

A drunken beat down by Captain America didn't slow Machete or his partners down, and Ferdinand accompanied them on many missions around the world for years, often battling Cap yet again. Eventually, though, he became the victim of a Zeitgeist, who was, for unknown reasons, killing South American heroes and villains.

After Ferdinand was killed, his brother Alfonso took up the mantle and joined Batroc's Brigade in his place. But Alfonso, too, got killed on the job just a few years later, when he tangle with U.S.Agent and the short-lived government agency, S.T.A.R.S. (Superhuman Tactical Activities Response Squad).

With two Lopez brothers down while using the Machete name a third, Mariano, took up the cause and likewise joined the Brigade. Honestly, playing with swords may seem fun, but the way the Lopez family is running out of brothers, it may be a foolhardy endeavor.
