Description
Don't let the comical jumpsuit fool you, that's another MISCELLANEOUS MISCREANT! The Marvel Universe has so many bad guys, its almost like they were churned out on an assembly line.
Samuel "Starr" Saxon, when he was young, somehow found a deactivated Doombot (incredibly high-tech robots made by, and who look exactly like, Doctor Doom) and learned a great deal about robotics by examining it. He soon made his own complex robots, complete with autonomous personalities. Learning is fun!
But instead of becoming a rich and famous robot science...um...guy, he decided to get into supervillany as a paid goon. One of his first assignments was to kill Daredevil. And since he a weirdo, he decides to murder a Daredevil nemesis named Mr. Fear and steal that guy's costume and shtick. But in battling ol' Hornhead, Starr got in over his head...he slipped off a roof and broke his dang neck. Oops.
However, his robots, programmed to preserve him at any cost, saved him. Well, sorta. They couldn't help his body from dying, so they copied his mind into a robot. Renaming himself The Machinesmith, Starr was now an artificial being, but still a weird, evil dude.
He became THE go-to guy in the supervillain world if you needed a robot, especially ones that could convincingly double for real people. What villain wouldn't want this service? Brilliant!
Why someone would build a robot with that exact facial hair is another question entirely...
