Meet Robert Hunter. He was just a regular guy from Scranton. PA. That is until members of the Kree Empire's Lunatic Legion came calling and recruited him to fight Mar-Vell, better known as Captain Marvel (the former Kree Military leader turned superhero of Earth). Man, when the Kree do Human Resources, they really do human resources.⁣

Robert was genetically altered by the Kree and given the ability to explode violently and then reform his body. Becoming Nitro, the Exploding Man, he was given orders by his Kree masters and quickly encountered Mar-Vell. Convenient!⁣

During their first battle, Nitro was defeated, but in the midst of the fight, the good Captain was exposed to a powerful nerve gas. Mar-Vell seemed fine, but years later developed cancer from the gas and died. So technically, Nitro killed Captain Marvel in their first encounter. Whoa. Heavy.⁣
⁣
Nitro, undeservedly, still gets to be a super goon and explode at heroes to this day. Booooo. Boo to bad guys.⁣
