Hey, Vectorinos -- we are getting close to wrapping up our The Clone Saga coverage. We know it STINGS a bit, but it’s nearly over…

So, lots of classic Spidey villains got kewl, extreme 90s make-overs. Kraven, Vulture, Mysterio, Green Gobin, Jackal…you name them, they got a over-complex glow up. And the tail-swinging baddie Scorpion was no different.

But as Mac Gargan, the original Scorpion, had finally freed himself from being trapped in his old suit and left the supervillain life behind, someone else had to take his place. So when Silvermane needed new goons to deal with Spider-man and the cyborg Deathlok sticking their noses in his business, he unleashed this new, curvier Scorpion onto the battlefield. Meow.

But Elaine Coll, wanting to take the mantle under her own terms, upgraded her codename to Scorpia right off the bat. Enhanced with cybernetic gear with the requisite mechanical tail, and various blasters including lasers, electric bursts, microwave emitters among others, she also had a protective forcefield to prevented damage from, like, punches and whatnot. Neato.

What she didn’t realize was her cybernetics had backdoor access so Silvermane could take control of Scorpia’s actions if needed. Which he did after she turned on him (to be fair, he DID shoot her in the back first). Regaining control, Scorpia set out to be a supervillain on her own. That’s right, lady, you didn’t need that old fart of a cyborg telling you what to do. You have agency. And a robot tail.

Soon she joined up with a gaggle of Spidey bad guys looking to partner up for protection against Kaine, the insane clone of Spider-Man who was murdering their kind (having already slain Doctor Octopus and Grim Hunter). Which seemed to work, because she’s still alive, running around doing scorpion lady stuff.
