Description Born and raised in Harlem, NYC, Lonnie Lincoln felt different from all the other kids in his majority-black neighborhood, due to his albinism. In addition to that condition, Lonnie also had issues with his vocal cords that forced him to talk in whispers. Outcast and isolated, with few friends. One schoolmate, named Joe Robertson, was kind to Lonnie, however, which Lonnie took as a sign of a deep friendship (albeit one-sided). He's just not that into you, man.

Finding solace in working out, Lincoln grew strong, becoming first a bully, and later a criminal extorting cash from his fellow students, gaining the nickname Tombstone. As an aspiring journalist, Joe decided to write an expose on Lincoln and his racket. But "Tombstone" beat that idea out of him. And that was a guy he thought was his only friend. Cold. Oh, like a tombstone - I get it now.

Many years later, Joe was working as a reporter in Philadelphia, only to find out Tombstone was now a mob enforcer there, as well. Which he found out when one of Joe's informants was murdered right in front of him - by Lonnie. Lonnie, seeing Joe as his "pal," let Robertson go. Joe, wisely fled back to NYC, where he later became a reporter, then editor for the Daily Bugle. Oh, hey! THAT Joe Robertson. We know him, don't we, Vectorinos?

Tombstone later relocated back to NYC, as well, bringing him into conflict with Spider-Man, of course. Robertson, guilty over letting Lonnie literally get away with murder, eventually worked to get Tombstone arrested. Things did not go smoothly, with both men ending up in prison at the same time. But Spidey helped figured things out. Yay.

Lonnie, for his part, stayed in the mob business, working for Hammerhead for a while (until he tried to take over his gang). During one tussle with Robertson, Lonnie was exposed to goofy comic-book science gases that made his skin nearly indestructible and gave him super strength. Since then he's been. a pain in the keister for Spidey, Daredevil, Punisher, and others. For a kid who grew up alone, he sure has made lots of friends later in life, huh?
