That's amazing! It's exactly what I need for a project, mind if I use it to make a 3D model?

Because it's portrayed as a caseless-ammunition firearm. In those style of firearms, there is no brass shell holding the powder behind the bullet; instead the powder itself is compacted like clay around/behind the bullet, and it is ignited with an electronic "pulse" rather than a primer explosion. That amounts to no shells being ejected when the round is fired, which is why it's referred to as "caseless."
HK tried this many years ago with the G11, which never went beyond the prototype/testing stage. The round was considered anemic - far too small to penetrate even cheap body armor - and was too expensive to manufacture.

Strait from the Colonial Marines Technical Manual "The standard M41 ammunition clip will hold up to 99 M309 rounds in a 'U' bend conveyor, which feeds the rounds mechanically into the rotating breech mechanism."

Lol... it is, the real model is a Thompson SMG which use a 20 or 30 round clip or 50 rd drum in .45 ACP. As with most fictional firearms more is better (in movie terms that is) and it's just such a cool weapon idea

The concept is that the mag is wider and has a u shape feed inside... so yes

Whoa! Awesome! I'll use it as a reference for one of my artworks (I'm working over something like an AvP poster for I story I'm writing so I was looking for a good reference for the Marine's pulse rifles)
