I absolutely love this!! The Sioux were such fierce warriors, I think you captured that intensity and malice towards in the white man in his face very well.

I just love your native american paintings! They are really beautiful and inspiring! I have actually wanted to do a native american-like piece for a long time now... I find it very exciting!
The anatomy and details are really stunning, and I love the expression of both the horse and the man. Just wonderful work! Keep it up!

The horse looks like he's saying, ''Whaaat? We're going back into that mess??? But we just left there!!! Ahh crap!!"
All BS aside, though, love this painting. I always had a fascination with the Native Americans. This image says to me 'ferocity and determination in the face of the enemy'.
Damn shame, what we did to them.

I love his expression. He sees the opportunity, and already turns his horse around. Beautiful scene, well thought. And very detailed.

The Buffalo Bill meauseum is awsome, I'll never forget visiting it, and Russell is among my favourite artists.

Beautiful........... again. I like the way he's looking at the viewer (me),.. as if I had been trailing him, or maybe I'm joining him in "charging the enemy". This painting really involves the viewer in what's going on. I'm sort of a fan of that... something I've been trying to do with some stuff I'm working on (haven't uploaded any of it yet, except some preliminary scraps). Really nice detail in both the horse and the warrior.
Very action-filled.

Thanks again, that focus is indeed inviting for the viewer. But i think I hit that nerve by chance, althought after i did it i realised the impact of it.
It is something I also see as worth exploring. Lots of possabilities.
Bring the audience in.

Whenever the character makes eyecontact with the viewer, it sucks him/her in. It's our silent way of communicating. He also steers his horse toward the viewer, so that helps too. Although accidental, it works very well.

What a life that must have been, it puts you right there, with him at your side the blood boils with excitement, ifin you were to find yer self on the other side, my guess it would be your bowels a boiling. Nicely done!

Thank you. Great to read your comment, if that was your first impression, then i can say I had some success with this piece. To make a viewr think about what it may have been like back then, and at that moment. Thanks...

This is one of the best paintings I've seen in a while here on DA. It is absolutely gorgeous. It's got all...Colors and values, Contrasts and texture
Composition, Proportion, Styling, Movement... I can go on and on. Having said that, I was just wondering if the character that you used above is from the old days. The reason is that your reference on the horse may have had horseshoes but I don't think the days of yore had any metal horse shoes. I could be wrong. This is breathtaking work. Kudos to you!

Thanks, I'm glad you noticed those thing I was trying to balance. Interesting about the shoe's, your right, for sure, indians didnt shod.
But the horse could have beenoriginally from US cavelry. Also, I think I put shoes on more for artistic liscence, I wanted to show a bit of sparkle in the dust, its something i once noted as i was watching a horse riden and kicking up dist, so i tried to capture that.
But cool that you noticed.

Beautiful work; like the perspective. You must have a very creative mind to come up with all these scenes and to work from your imagination. I'm impressed!
