Description
This is one of six photos I had to take for my Digital Imaging class over the summer. For my final series, I decided to take macro (as close as I could get with my lens, anyway) shots of carnivorous plants in the greenhouse at my college. This plant, if I remember correctly, is bladderwort- a hair-trigger mechanism is alerted when an insect is nearby and a trap door opens up, sweeping water and the nearby insect into a bladder for digestion. Obviously, it didn't eat the snail, but the shell looked good there.
At least, I think that's what this plant is. I could very well be wrong here. I'm no botanist.

This is incredible. The story you tell frames this with an air of menace even though the colors are celebratory. As far as I'm concerned, it's a study in composition and texture. Nothing is centered here, and the focus can be on the snail surrounded by some small brightness or the purplish pinkish orangish ground.
Just a ton of fun. Like how the plant is a landscape of sorts, islands floating in a sea of whatever. At least that's how it looks.
