I did not make the drum itself. This is a djembe drum that I bought for my best friend for her birthday. However, I did design and hand carve the horse and dragonfly symbol into it for her.
This image was made specifically for her so I do not wish to see anyone else using it any where. Not that I've ever had a problem with that, but just in case. Sorry it's not the best grouping of photos either. I messed up the colours on the bottom right especially, but you get the point I'm sure.
I'll have to get pictures of my own djembe one of these years too.

I loved the dark wood stain on this particular drum; part of why I picked it out.
The placement of the design and some of the final changes to it were in fact inspired by the surface itself. The wood grain and such.

the carvings are great : ). my mom has one of these drums, but its so old that the skin on top has rotted away.. or decomposed or whatever. when i was a kid it still had the skin, but its gone now.

she should find a new drum that can actually be played! I love them.
Djembes are especially fun, or at least I think so.
