Description We have some woods in our backyard, and my dog, Libby, likes to peer into them from the lawn. Mom suspects that she's looking for bunnies to chase down. That was the original title, 'Looking for Bunnies', but rabbits sounds a bit more sophisticated.

Acrylic (or perhaps non-opaque painting in general) is difficult. We'll be using it a lot in this school year's art class, though, so I'm excited to learn how to properly use it.

Media: Acrylic paint on canvas, approximately 16x24 inches.

How sweet! I love the green you used, the composition of it and Libby's big ears. Gets a fave from me

I love how it looks painterly, yet there's a lot of defined detail

Aw, that's quite cute. You've got some great depth in the background. ^^

Acrylics are tough to get used to. I can't tell you how many failed paintings I have hidden away. The best thing to do is to keep practicing, despite how frustrating it may get. Don't be afraid to experiment- the best thing about acrylics is that you can always cover up mistakes. Adding a touch of water can give you smoother shading, but you have to be careful not to get -too much- on your brush or you'll end up seeing the canvas through the paint. It's nice to have a paper towel on hand. You can use that to get a straighter edge by wetting it slightly and running it along the edge of the fence or whatever you're painting. These are probably things you already know, but they took me a bit to figure out so maybe they'll help some beginning painter.

You're making me tear up, you dork. D';

Acrylics, I think, are all a giant delusion. They make you think there's detail, but there's really NOT. It's all ILLUSION. Screw with peoples' minds. >:C lol
