Hokay. Now that I'm awake... here goes. I was inspired to pick up my brush and actually paint something for once. And I hadn't done any traditional type painting in, like, years. The last time I picked up a brush was for calligraphy a couple of months ago so I am really rusty.

But anyways, this was actually done with real calligraphy brushes and ink, and the fine lines on the "real" half were done with a felt tip pen. The red is actually the traditional red "ink" that is used for stamps and seals. (Which, by the way, left a mess on my scanner... cuz it's a lot like lipstick. xD)

I had this lovely idea of what I wanted to do... but unfortunately this contest had to take place during two very busy weeks of mine. So, on the last day, I rushed home, pulled out the sketch that I'd drawn earlier on some random roll of poor quality paper I'd found in the school art closet. Practiced a little, and went at it.

It took forever to apply all that red with the blunt end of a broken pencil. -_-

Not to mention that it's harder to find any good references for Amaterasu and her reflector than you'd think. So I just sort of... guessed.

Anyways, I didn't have time to fix it up properly in photoshop or anything, so the actual paper texture looks horrible.

This was less than half of what I wanted to do (there was going to be an actual scene with a background and a point, hence the title which now makes no sense), but oh well. It still looks nice in the thumbnail.

Real size is about 16"x10".
