Description
EDIT: Couldn't help posting this new clip from the Colbert Report [link]"Inspired by the september 11 terror attacks... I think a lot of us took stock of our lives on that day, our friends and our family, our commitment to community and asked ourselves 'why aren't I f*cking a robot?'"
------------
EDIT 8-Sep-2010: Revisited this image today... finally created what I originally envisioned!

Yes. I thought your choice was brilliant. I need to take a little time and go through your gallery. You seem to draw a lot of cool stuff.

you can find all kinds of Sorayama airbrush paintings on google's image search ... I think Chaka Khan had used a couple for her album covers. I may be misremembering tho... it's been a while...
I haven't watched much TV in several years, and Venture Brothers has been off my radar although I've liked what I've seen of it. Apparently the Soryama (different spelling) character was loosely based on a character from the movie Fargo (voiced by the same actor even). Though given that they gave him female robots, I would bet it was also supposed to be a parody of Sorayama (the painter).
anyway, thanks for the complement

seriously this is one awesome piece of work very skillful in terms of the color and line work to show the chrome look thats something i need to learn to do. But I like how it still has human features there fore still being sexy. the sleezy positioning and look on the face really gives it life but the drill thats hella funny very awesome work.

Thanks Alfred. And thanks for the watch.
Would you believe I'm actually still not entirely happy with the chrome on this?

This is totally me if I was a freaking robot!!! I Absolutely love it, great colors, I KNOW how hard it is to get it perfect, I am still a beginner! I love her shape and small feet, it makes me think that her walk is very sexy, swaying and little steps....Awesome.

Hey thanks. I think I tend to be a bit self-conscious actually about doing this sort of thing because I know some folks get hung up and find it creepy... but I still wanted to do it. I had actually posted this image for critique on Threadless just to see what kind of response it got, if I should submit it for the competition. I wasn't even going to submit this one, I was going to create a new version in Illustrator so I could reduce it to the 8 colors that are allowed with no gradients or half-tones. It ended up with something like 10 people said submit it (as is), 20 people said "don't submit!" and a handful of folks said it needed work. Lots of comments on it over there too... it was very controversial, and I just pointed the naysayers to a video clip from this episode of the Colbert Report. [link] Sooner or later I'm gonna do a robot Viagra ad.

I think its way more creepy when someone starts leaving you messages, and when you explain that you are just interested in networking with other artists, and people involved in comics , they reply with "What is comic? Really, I just want to be your friend....Please explain, what is comic?" Thats F-ing creepy..... I think your stuff is awesome (Does that make ME creepy cause I like it and I keep telling you that? LOL) and you SHOULD do a robot vigra ad! If I listened to other people, I wouldn't even be on Deviant. I like the unusual...Everyone doesn't have to be cookiecutter. I appreciate that you still went for it....

Thanks. No you're not creepy. And yeah, the wierdos with a poor grasp of the language/culture like that tend to be kinda creepy... a lot of them are really just looking for either sex or they're looking for a "marriage of convenience" to get them into the US... Sometimes they're running some other kind of scam like the nigerians or other African con artists who'll instant-message you and ask you to help them sell their gold... blech... It's all the same - spam con artists basically... You may get more of it because you're a girl. I know that between me and Tiff, she gets way more of that than I do and I'm actually surprised at how much she "puts up with". She'll generally let the conversation go on a little longer than I would beyond when I would have blocked them, but she does ultimately end up blocking them anyway when they get around to asking her for nude pics of herself. Most of the folks I've met on Tribe haven't been like that tho. Give it a little time -- and you might also find you get less of that if you change your avatar to one of your illustrations instead of the photo of your face. It kinda sucks that using that photo means probably dealing with more creeps... wish I knew some way to fix that.
Anyway... Yeah, the whole cookie cutter thing... A lot of the art I work on is inspired by the fact that other people aren't doing it ... or at least that if they have I haven't seen it. The deviation titled Ouch (rhino aiming his horn at a guy's ass) was just kind of a whimsy notion I had -- and I've ended up seeing several other images on very similar themes... One of them from another deviant here and I think it's linked in the comments.

heh... I hope not. I kinda like flesh. But this concept was loosely based on the old Sorayama fembots from the 80's that were used on some album covers and whatnot at the time. Glad you enjoyed it.

it's very witty. it is the dinky feet that make her legs look odd. though since she's a robot, she can be any damn shape she likes.

This holds together pretty well. Nice inking job. But the feet do look a bit small.

compare them to a photograph (this was actually based on a photo model) -- if they were any larger, she'd be a grasshopper.
