Description This is a picture of myself at a Burn to Learn a couple years ago. I've erased the department name as I didn't know if it would be okay to post it online or not. Anyways, if you don't know what a Burn to Learn is, sometimes houses or structures are donated to fire departments for training. We set fires within the house multiple times and then practice putting them out, using different techniques. Once we've had our fill or the house is going to take off no matter what, we let it burn down, controlling the perimeter. After we let this one go, my girlfriend was standing behind me taking a bunch of pics and this one just turned out really well. Recently, our department is asking voters for renovations to our fire house, it's 26 years old. A flier was sent out to all the residents in our town and they used my picture on it! I love this job!

Hello you,

I am a firefighter myself, too. The first though as I see your picture was "Damn. If your house is burning, this is the view you wanted." Our Fire Department is always looking for places where we could do fire trainings, such ones as you described. A few weeks ago we got the luck that we could train in old house. but it is a case for its own making fire as a firfighter ...our fires are never so big as the one in your picture. but we´re only just a small Fire Brigarde with nealry 100 Volunteers.

I almost forgot the most important: your picture is great. I like the way it looks because the situation is very same to mine when we are in action. I am the team leader, watching the teams go in... keep the contact and guide the action over the radio. Of course it is urgently needed to keep a cool head. But I think that you know by yourself.

And, yeah, it is cool to be in press. We are working very close with our local press and we we even have a half site on the weekend edition where we give usefull tipps for the daily use like how to use a fire extinguisher, how to prevent fires and the need of smoke dispatch riders. Our Conviction is that Public relations are very important and that they make them our day easier.

Nice greetings from Germany,

Yours faithfully

Wow!! It's great to see a fellow firefighter here on DA! Thank you very much for you comments on my picture. I checked out your site, I just wish I could read German. You sound like your department is really on their game, that's great! I added you to my friends list, I hope you don't mind.

You´re welcome.

You´re right, there aren´t a lot of firefighters on this platform.

You´re right, we´re always in action. Although we are a small town we have a lot of heavy industrie around our town that keeps us busy.

Thank you for visiting us! Unfortunately the site is only in german, that´s right. Thats too bad, that you are not a friend of the German language but that´s okay. Our City as well as our Fire Department has friendships with a lot of foreign instutions f.e. the austrian Fire Department Zell am See. Two times a year we held up a meeting with all our foreign friends and train together.

And privatly I have a lot of firendships with foreign people too so I´m improving my english constantly to make sure I understand everything.

It is cool, that we´re firends now.

Yours sincerelly
