Description
I was feeling narcissistic and cutesy when I made this. Turns out, that kinda works when you're drawing a stylized self-portrait thingy.my twitter: [link]

You should write the backstory at you artist comments : )
I'm glad that I looked through the comments and found it.
But even without any stories this looks good.

Thank you! ^_^
And I suppose I think that inquiring minds (the people who happen to stumble upon the comments like yourself) should be the ones who end up reading more of the story.

Haha. Maybe. Some people don't even read the artist comments anymore... And it's a good way to gain few comments, if you don't tell everything. : )

I love this! Very stylish illustration and beautiful hues & shading. And yeah, the story above really does give this image some definite weight. Anyway, very nice!!

I wanted to include a couple of tangible things that were parts of me in less-than-obvious ways. I lived with my grandmother for 16 years -- we got on like cats and dogs, but I always grudgingly admired her green thumb. Among other things, she grew orchids.
I took care of her when she was dying of cancer, and after she passed I got a tattoo of an orchid blossom. It seemed fitting -- she was a vain Leo always concerned with keeping up the outward appearances of herself and her surroundings, and she truly did create beauty around her because of it.
Maybe I'm imagining things, but since I got that tattoo, I've also mysteriously developed a green thumb that I never had before. In some ways, it feels like a gift from beyond the grave from a woman I was never able to see eye to eye with in life.

Wow. That bit of backstory makes this a really interesting self portrait.

I promise, the story with the coffee is way less poignant. I just drink a lot of it.
