Our Own Conflicting WillsIt was only when the adrenaline rush slowed down that Merrill realized she’d just trudged in without thinking twice. Shit. How could she be so stupid!? But then again, as she saw Athena through her peripheral, she didn’t dare look back least she’d possibly blow someone’s cover. If the Lady considered Merrill’s reckless appearance before Hekate to be problematic, she did not show it. Athena’s face was steely, and only the faintest prickle of her fur betrayed the fuming outrage which brewed underneath.

Merrill didn’t try hiding her desperation- Hekate could read it whatever way she liked. It was ambigual, either way. All Merrill’s green eyes could focus was the form of the helpless vicar, pinned down by the devil incarnate herself. Raph let out a strangled growlish sound as his friend and Athena both appeared along the riverbank. Unlike his mother, the vicar reeked of fear. His neck was stained red.

Hekate didn’t

Athena rolled with the strike. As her opponent bore down on her, the Lady allowed the force of the blow to land and kicked up with all the strength she could muster.
Ill? Perhaps. Yet far from weak. The Red Devil would learn that soon enough, if she hadn’t already. Hekate’s pearly fangs snapped against Athena’s own as the assassin tumbled overhead.
