A show of trust in his familiarity with the Herald that would never have been shown in the presence of others.

"I tire of relying on lesser wolves to tell me the ways of our Dread Father. I wish to know them, as you do. I wish for their convictions to burn like poison in my bones - venom, boiling in my blood! Remake me, Herald, into a viper that none would dare question! I know that you can. Rend these scales from my eyes, let me see beyond the veil into the accursed Dark, and let none question whether my service to you is the will of the gods!"

She was rarely taken aback. In fact, nothing, or no one besides Stallion, had ever lead her to almost complete loss of words. But Hekate reminded herself now not to ever doubt the twisting tentacles of fate, as they'd always find how to turn and twist the world upside down. Janus' plea ringed in her ears and reached an intimate spot on her soul - the one who connected the Mistress so deeply with the Gods. She thought of their children. There was a split second where the She-Devil worried about what they'd think of their father. But she dismissed it in exchange for determination.

Hekate exhaled sharply. "You will be reshaped, Janus," She offered him the same sincerity of one's true name, naked of the formality of titles. "Not only to connect your soul to the Shunned Ones, but to tap into the power of the Void directly. The maggots will fear you, Lord Cobra."

SO. Basically. Janus is going through some hipster reeducation!

The gap between him and the gods is too much to ignore any longer. Janus swallows his pride for the sake of ambition - and asks Hekate personally to turn him into a servant like no other.
