Description I was bored this one day so I just took some Balsa wood left overs and smacked them together with some some glue, paint and patience....

Just fore the record: the only tools I used was an x-acto knife and sandpaper. The balsa I got from a model train shop but everything else I got from Canadian Tire.

Started to make a balsa sword once but didn't have the patience back then. I should try again, yours looks fantastic.

Thank mate!^^

You are right about that that it takes patience, and plenty of it too...
Screw up one coat of paint and you ruin the 2 previous once along with it. Not to mention the sanding...

This is amazing. Balsa wood is used for a lot of fishing lures. I love to learn how you did this. I've always wanted to make fishing lures.

Nice knife design. I wonder if it's comfortable or practical for real use, if it was made out of steal.

almost an exact duplicate of the one I made for a throwing knife in third grade... if on the holes you sharpen it to be flattend at the center it will be very fast when thrown.... I know from excperience... nother thing is that i used a branch from oak to use and t cut well...

So it's all wood, but good painted so it's hard to tell. It's sad so many people have forgotten about wood as a material to work with. But it's definitely not easy to handle and it requires skills and tools. Who did you make the holes with the sandpaper or the x-acto knife or did you use a Drill?

xanene In reply to dakanbg [2012-11-13 20:21:26 +0000 UTC]

Easy! I used a very thin and pointy blade and drilled threw from both sides by rotating the tip. Then I took a tiny pice of very fine sandpaper, rolled it up, punched it threw the hole and rotated it to smooth it out. The holes are not perfectly circular but there is no way to tell with the paint job...

Not a dagger. A dagger is a knife with an edge on both sides. This is a knife.

... and has a blade of approximately 30cm... I know... But since I based the design on a "Dark Eldar" design referred to everywhere a "combat dagger" I felt like I had to give something back...

True... this shape and desing is better for a throwing knife...
