Description

This is everything about how I made my Rikku cosplay! It has some images, but for more, please look in my W.I.P. gallery! [link]

I put my heart, sweat and blood into this costume - literally! I hope you enjoy, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

*Notes

**REFERENCE IMAGE DOES NOT BELONG TO ME!

If you plan on making her thief blades, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SAME MATERIAL I MADE MINE OUT OF!!! My blades were fine until the summer came and then the summer heat completely warped them and I can no longer use them.

Use styrene sheeting instead! If you cannot find styrene sheeting near you (like myself) please purchase it through this wonderful person who helps cosplayers like us get materials we can't find!! [link]

I read on a cosplay site, that you would make the scarf for people. Is that true?

In the past I had offered that, (though whether I could take the commission or not depends as I have the right to refuse a commission), but I unfortunately am no longer open for commissions right now.

What did you use for the fabrics for this cosplay?

For the bikini top/"thong" straps I used bathing suit lycra material
For the skirt - I think it was a denim? I cannot remember off hand...to be honest I can't remember what material the sleeves were made of either but it feels like peachskin (but I know it isn't peachskin. The belt was pleather found in the furniture fabric section of one of my local fabric shops.

Wow, thats so nice of you to do such a helpful tutorial like this! Amazing! You've also gave me lots of ideas for new construction techniques when it comes to props.

Xelhestiel In reply to Wakkalakaflang [2011-12-10 03:49:02 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Also, don't follow what I did for my prop, but instead go to the link I provided. The materials I used was due to the fact I cannot get styrene sheeting where I live and later found that you can order some through the girl who wrote the tutorial.

I would advise reading both of ours because I did do some things different than she did that I thought were more helpful in my construction of her blades

This is fabulous!!! You could make some great money making parts of these to sell!

Xelhestiel In reply to Holly-Batali [2011-10-18 22:30:42 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! ^_^ The only part of the costume I would commission is the scarf but being that it's hand made and hand dyed it's a bit pricey because it's so time consuming XD
