This tutorial was requested by my good friend

Whew! I finally managed a hair tutorial, and it's in version 2 of my tutorials. The other ones didn't cut it, and were meant to help artists define their own techniques. But, shockingly, a lot of people liked them. o_o;
So, glad I could be helpful! I'm sorry if this is difficult to understand. I tried to make it friendly to those new in the dolling world aswell as some old faces that wanted to pick up some things from different dollers. Looking at this after getting a drink, it looks pretty ick. But, that is probably just me seeing every flaw in my art like always.

The palettes look funny, but I had an urge to do a nice green palette. Then I saw a brown I liked, and made a palette around it. And needed a hair colour, so I just made it blue. The clothes are ick, but were last- second. LOL Oops, I'm criticizing myself again.

I do hope you find this in the least bit helpful.
Until next time!

With Love,
Mina ♥

This was VERY useful for me [link] I practiced it on a base, since that's what I normally do when it comes to hair and clothing It sucks doesn't it? V.V

Yay I'm glad it was useful!
Typically I make dolls on bases too haha. I don't have enough faith in myself to make my own bases yet. And it doesn't suck!
Here are some tips that might help (you can skip them if you aren't interested):
Stay away from the anime-traced bases. The dolling community hates those because it's exactly what they are; bases traced off of copyrighted images. Dolling is upheld to have creativity and originality. I can point you in the direction of some amazing base makers if you'd like. (:
Don't outline in black.
Try to keep the outline 1 pixel thick at all points.
Shade the clothes and add folds!
Try to have your lines smooth and gradual instead of thick and jagged.
--end tips lol--

You did very good though. When I was first starting out, my dolls were terrible. ([link] that's from when I was nine lmfao) Keep up practicing and you'll be pro in no time! You definitely seem to understand the idea of shading judging from the hair. ^ u ^

Ah okay...sorry I know anime bases are very looked down upon I have no idea how to make my own doll though in ms paint Do you have a tutorial for that? =o

Okay. Just zoom in and use the one pixel thick line? I can do that (: I have a terrible time with folds and clothing designs I practice, but it's still pretty hard.

Thank you Aw that wasn't too bad,it's better than what I can do Thanks! Maybe now I'll practice making my own dolls instead of anime bases ^^

Those are way outdated (well, so is this tutorial) and don't even reflect my style anymore, but a lot of people seem to find them helpful anyways to start off.
I suggest you look at other dollers as well and try to figure out the way they do things. That really helped me when I was new, lol. I never really found any tutorials in my day that interested me, so I stuck to studying other techniques and figuring things out through trial and error. It takes a lot of patience haha.

I did look at it, it's definitely way better than my first one haha. I think my first one (which I've since lost) looked like half the face was melting off.
I think you should practice shading though, and not using black for outlines. Also, look up pictures of people on Google for references. I myself still do that because even Picasso used references. For example, the neck is a bit too thick.
Definitely looks like you're getting the gist of it though, so it's all practice and reference from here! I would recommend mixing anime with realism for your bases though, you'll notice a lot of the more well-known base makers don't have typical anime faces on their bases.
