ok, this is my bonsai Orpheus.i gave him that name because of the Greek myth about Orpheus and how he created the very first grove of elm trees.
as you can see he has copper wire coiling all around him.
this will give him his shape. and get this. it'll be about a year before i can remove the wire and have him retain that shape. but sure he looks scrawny and small now, but old elm bonsais are absolutely beautiful.

all that wiring took me about an hour....
and mostly im doing this as a patience exercise.

ha! that is so cool. Arnold is an awesome name.
and I've had Orpheus for a long time. i dug him out of the back yard cuz if he grew into a tree it'd cause some inconvenience, but i couldn't stand to just toss out a "corpse" XD. and i whent to a bonsai exhibition recently so i finally got some inspiration.......
