You woke up to the feeling of warmth next to you, and as you turned your head slightly you smiled at who it was. You try to recollect what happened last night, and you come to the conclusion, you must have had another nightmare. You shifted to where you were now facing your bed mate, who was currently still sleeping. She was always so kind to comfort you when you had these occasional nightmares.

You moved your hand to her face and gently moved some of the hair that had fallen in front of her eyes behind her ears. No matter how gentle you were, she woke up, like always.

"..huh...oh! Good morning, [f/n]!" She smiled at you brightly, causing you to smile in return.

"Morning, Hanji. Did you sleep well?"

"But of course! How about you?" Still smiling at you, even though you knew you kept her up last night after crawling in to bed with her.

"I slept a lot better after being next to you..." You responded just the slightest bit of blush dusting your cheeks as you spoke, moving you eyes away from her face and to the pillow.

She smiled still and laughed a bit at your response, "If you keep talking like that people will start to think you like me."

She was still slightly laughing, but oh god, how right she was. You turned away, and started to get up to hide the smallest bit of hurt that you know showed on your face, "We should probably get ready, right? Lots of testing to be done."

She jumped out of bed, grinning the way she did when she thought about titans. You loved that look on her face, it was always so full of life and excitement. The thing you wanted most from her was to be the one she looked at like that. The way she looked at them with such excitement, and even love, it made you jealous.

You stopped for a moment and thought about that. You, a well-skilled soldier, whose use of the 3-D maneuver gear could only be topped by your commanding officers, were JEALOUS of a Titan, the creatures that destroy homes and lives, creatures you had sworn to eliminate. This is silly right? Having these thoughts about your best friend, who only thought of you as a friend.

You sighed, and continued to get dressed with a solemn look on your face, which only disappeared when she spoke to you again.

"So did you hear about the Titan boy???" She smiled ecstatically at you.

"Titan boy?" You racked your brain, but could come up with nothing, "What are you talking about?"

"Ah, so you haven't heard yet!" She grabbed your hands and held them tightly in hers, pure excitement coursing through her veins. "I thought maybe you hadn't since you couldn't join us on the last expedition!"

You slightly frowned at the reminder. Just before the expedition, you had fallen extremely ill, you could hardly even move from your bed. Doctors told you it was just a really bad case of the flu, and that you would have to stay during the expedition, at first you protested like you would die if you didn't get to go. The only reason you even agreed to calmly stay behind was because you didn't want to worry Hanji, but having her away from you for so long was also painful.

She filled you in on the so called 'Titan boy', Eren Jäger. As you listened to her you couldn't help but notice that same expression she gets when she talks about titans, and instantly you wished you had the abilities this kid had. Having her examine your body all over with those lively eyes of hers, her touch on your skin as she performed all sorts of experiments on you. You slightly shivered at the thought, and remembered you were currently holding hands with said woman.

"And so there will be a trial soon to decide where he goes!" She was finishing up her thoughts, and her face got that look again, that look that makes you want to hide her away from the world*, "Hopefully, he will come to the Survey Corps, so I can preform experiments on him."

You didn't respond, at least not until you saw that she was awaiting your opinion on the matter, "...Ah...yeah, it would be best if he came here with us...I mean who knows more about experimenting on titans than you, Hanji..." You gave a small smile to her, and she grinned widely.

-----time skip----

As you sat down for dinner, the only other person at your table so far was Levi, so you decided to make some small chat.

"Good evening, Levi. How has your day been?"

He looked over at you with the same disinterested look as always, "...Eh, it was annoying as always...How about yours?"

You had started to eat, he never asked you how your day was, and you knew he didn't care, so hearing him ask you shocked you slightly. "Ah...well Hanji and I have started to experiment on the new test subjects, she named them Sawney and Bean..." You smiled at the thought of her, "She's always so silly about it." You giggled slightly.

Levi lightly face palmed, not surprised that she named them, but at the same time still taken back by her childish actions. "At least they will keep her occupied for a while, maybe she will leave me alone for once."

You laughed at this, "But the busier she is, the busier I am, being her assistant and all. Are you saying you don't want to spend time with me, Levi?" You continued to smile at him, that is until he caught you off guard with his response.

"...Please, we both know how much you would rather be alone with her, than with me." He glanced over at you just in time to see your face change from [s/c] to bright red, then get covered with your hands.

He smirked slightly, then Hanji got to the table, instantly making his face return to his normal apathetic expression, and causing you to peek out from behind your hands at the oh-so-lovely face of Hanji.

"Hey! What are you two talking about!?" She smiled eyeing you both with burning curiosity.

"N-nothing!" You responded before going back to your meal, still blushing madly.

Levi didn't even bother giving a response, instead just looking away from the table like he normally did.

Hanji smirked, thinking she had gotten everything figured out. "Oooooh~ I see. [f/n], Levi, when are you two going to get together already?"

You were taking a drink as she said this, you were so caught off guard by this question you ended up choking and spitting your drink out onto Levi. Coughing, and blushing madly, you ran from the table, unable to face Hanji, or a screaming Levi.

After the initial rage from Levi for being soaked in such an absolutely disgusting manner, he glared at Hanji, "You're really fucking dense, aren't you?" He basically spit out his words at her.

She was still extremely confused from all that had just happened, "Levi, what's going on?"

"She likes you, you moron!"

Hanji stood up and ran out of the dining hall after you.

--small time skip--

You were in the training field now, the night air caused you to miss the warmth of inside, but you couldn't go back in there now. Tears were flowing down your face and you could hardly stand. You fell to your knees and continued to cry.

'How could she assume that I liked him!? God, she must really have no interest in me!'

You covered your face with your hands in an attempt to cover the tears and stop them from falling.

As Hanji approached the scene, she saw you on your knees and the sobs that racked your body. She had caused this, to the person she was closest to. I mean sure, you had never straight out said your feelings to her, but everyone else seemed to pick up on them. She felt a terrible wave of guilt wash over her as she slowly made her way to you.

You didn't notice her, not until she had wrapped her arms around you from behind, causing your eyes to widen at the touch. She finally spoke after a minute of just embracing you.

"I'm so sorry... I had no idea of how you felt..." She had begun to cry slightly, "...How can I call myself a scientist when I can't even observe and understand how my best friend is feeling...?"

You smiled slightly, the tears still flowing from your eyes, "I...I n-never told y-you... I couldn't ex-expect you to-to know..."

Her grip on you tightened, "That doesn't mean that I shouldn't have noticed!...ho...how long have you...have you liked me?"

You blushed, feeling your heartbeat quicken, "...I...al-almost since th-the day we me-met..."

Her eyes widened and she turned you around so that she would face you. The tears that ran down your face were heart breaking. "I...I like you too, [f/n]..." She was blushing slightly, as she moved her hand to wipe away the tears that stained your face. "I am so sorry I made you cry..."

You took this chance to gather up what little courage you had, and leaned in, pressing your lips to hers, in a sloppy kiss. She was slightly taken back at first, due to the suddenness, but quickly kissed you back, pulling you closer in her arms.

As you pulled away for air, you looked into her eyes and smiled slightly. "I've wanted to do that for so long..."

She looked at how happy you were and hugged you close, a small smile gracing her lips, "...me too."

After a bit of embracing each other, you pulled away and had to ask a question that was now itching to be asked, "If you liked me, why did you ask when Levi and I were going to get together?"

Hanji was shocked at first, then she scratched the back of her head blushing, "haha, oh that... Well I saw the way you two were talking before I got to the table, and how you kept blushing and giggling while talking to him, I just assumed it was because you liked him..." She looked away as she spoke that, then she looked you in the eyes, "if it wasn't because you like him, why were you blushing? What were you two talking about?"

You blushed slightly, and looking away from her eyes you responded, "ah... Well we were talking about...you..." You smiled lightly and looked back up at her, and she was smiling brightly, bringing you into another embrace.

"Let's sleep in the same bed again tonight! No nightmares needed!" She smiled and held you close, your head on her chest.

You smiled and held her back, "ok..."
