Description

Now that I have my theme, suit, & helmet designs done. The next step is to figure out the team itself. I started by going back to my Atlantis Trilogy, taking all the Rangers, and putting them in new positions. It always bugged me that I replaced most of my Rangers for the final part of the trilogy, it felt like doing a disservice to all the Rangers because A) the original team didn't get to see things through and B) the replacements had less urgency in the story. So for this outing I'm going more with an early season approach of "the Zords are gone, we need Ninja Energy", "The coins are destroyed, We must use the Zeo Crystal". I always preferred that approach to the New Season New Team cycle the series later became, helped create a sense of continuity.

The way I have these broken up is that the 5 on the left are the "Earth Rangers", all my older established team. Because they were the Earth team I wanted them to feel familiar, thus the more classic colors. Then in the middle I have my "Alien Rangers" I wanted them to feel more alien so I used two of the more obscure colors and one of the more traditional ones in a new way. then on the right is my unfinished, more traditional "6th" Ranger; a more unique color scheme, and a helmet that doesn't quite match the rest of them (in this case a dragon).

Currently I'm thinking the Pink Ranger will be the first and separated from his team (still working on details). He will then enlist the help of the Earth crew and give them Morphers with the Black Ranger will be the first 6th Ranger. Then when the Ranger teams are united I'll introduce the Gold Dragon as a sort of underworld boogeyman.

This is of course still subject to change, after all nine Rangers seems like a big number. But let me know what you think, seriously comments are very much welcome, this is the brainstorming phase.
