Description
Soooo afer receiving mutiple messages asking for another fur tutorial that was manipulation based I put my big girl panties on and did one. This works for all types of hair, wolves, humans, horses, whatever you like. It works for all colours too:
By the end of this tut I'd already consumed about 6 glasses of gin so please excuse any spelling errors and/or other shittiness.

I was wondering if you could send me a better picture of this..? I can't read it because it's a bit blurry for me to read.
Also I would like to ask what application/software you used to make this. Photoshop?

I HAVE SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH FUR and which directions it should flow in and all that - any tips? I would LOVE to do this, but I feel that maybe a little artistic skill may be required here >.>

This is a good resource!
Otherwise I would just study pictures of wolves or whatever species you plan on drawing. And practice practice xD
Dont put a tonne of stress on yourself to get it right the first time or you'll just get frustrated and toss it. Expect to screw up a few times but also expect that it'll get better each try.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been meaning to look up a tutorial on how to make the fur long and flow well; and alas, I have found one. I do have a question though: Β In the last two images there are the lighter lines defining the fur, do you just brighten the red and you use the brush tool to draw the lines? Β

somehow i don't know how to make the border of the wolf look better. also, i tried doing a background but it doesn't work. wether your tutorial is bad or i'm stupid
π: 0 β©: 1
xXNamaste In reply to Anevara [2013-10-03 15:51:21 +0000 UTC]
this tutorial doesn't cover backgrounds, so it wont help you there. and i'm not sure what you mean by 'border', do you mean the outline? the fur? try fiddling with your settings, gimp might be different than photoshop. and i doubt my tutorial is 'bad' because you cant get your own work to look right? its not exactly the tutorials fault if you cant utilize the information given here to your own standards. and you are not 'stupid' either, it's a guide of the way i do things made to HELP you, actually practicing must be done on your own accord.

Anevara In reply to xXNamaste [2013-10-03 19:50:42 +0000 UTC]
THAT sounded REALLY rude. but whatever, i meant the outlines and with the background i meant something like, do you know of a good (wolf-)cutting addon for gimp?
π: 0 β©: 1
Jumanjiiii In reply to Anevara [2013-10-20 17:20:14 +0000 UTC]
Well, I highly doubt she'll answer you now. Telling her that her tutorial is 'bad' because you're frustrated and can't get something right is definitely considered rude. This is just a tutorial she made to explain to people how she does her fur, since a lot of people were asking. This is how SHE does it. Don't like it? Than go find another tutorial. Personally, I find that GIMP isn't very user friendly. It's a good tool, but it can be extremely confusing for a lot of people. Maybe you should ask a user on here that actually uses GIMP to help you out. Other than that, I suggest saving up for any Photoshop product.

quote: "whether your tutorial is bad or i'm stupid" of cause i mean't "wether i dream the following comment by Jumanjiiii or he/she is stupid. "

Jumanjiiii In reply to Anevara [2014-02-12 00:22:22 +0000 UTC]
I seriously can't even understand what you were trying to explain in that last reply. My point was that she was obviously offended when you called her tutorial 'bad' when she probably put hours of her time into it trying to help people like you out. Next time, try to explain it without insulting the person who made the tutorial when you want an explanation concerning how to do something on gimp or Photoshop.
