I was aiming for a subtle, clear, character building yet emotional intrinsic description that would serve the painting the explanation it deserves.

You always add typical descriptions to your artwork, but this one is...different.
I love the painting though.

It's an entirely different kind of description all together.

I'm glad you noticed the description! I guess my decision to make the picture larger was the right thing to do.

I can recognize some elements from Halo 4 in this. Was that part of the inspiration?

Xylius In reply to ASkinnyWhiteGuy [2013-06-10 02:15:52 +0000 UTC]

I get this a lot, but apparently no. I don't even play HALO. I do love it though (since I bought their art books). I'm guessing it's those monolithic thingies. Since HALO 4 came out, monoliths have been booming. Other than that I just see what shapes I like best and refine it from there. I guess my visual language resembles HALO's somehow.

To be honest, I'm more into natural rock formations that look really weird and unusual. Like the giant natural arch on which Solitude was built in Skyrim. That place is fucking epic.

U like skyrim? I tried playing it but..meh, idk it just feels weird having an FPS pov and you're wielding swords instead of guns. And after like about 30 minutes of gameplay I get this really bad motion sickness.

parkurtommo In reply to Xylius [2013-06-11 22:20:19 +0000 UTC]

I can't recall if there was an FOV slider or not in the PC version of Skyrim but your motion sickness problem means the FOV (Field of View) was too narrow.

I get motion sickness especially on Bethesda games, including fallout. Dunno why tho because I actually kinda like new Vegas.

parkurtommo In reply to Xylius [2013-06-12 22:18:36 +0000 UTC]

I'd say try playing them in third person since all of the recent Bethesda games have that option, that should widen the FOV or at least increase your positional awareness. I personally like being in third person a lot in Skyrim because, well let's be honest, swinging a sword in first person is really awkward with their combat system.

Fucking love skyrim. Just built the Hearthfire house in Falkreath, and the location is, for a videogame, beautiful.
