Hey that's a pretty nice rendering technique you developed for fur don't help me to much because I'm doing more realistic fur but yea it's a nice style.

Fur coat effect (Rus)  ^^

This will work for any graphics program that supports layers - so, all of them except MS Paint. Basically, what you do is:

1) Draw some dark colored blobs on the bottom layer. These are the "fur clumps".
2) Draw some thick, lighter streaks on top of those, in the direction you want the fur to go. This gives the fur the 3D effect. This is also the middle layer.
3) Draw some hairs on the top layer, on top of the streaks. These should be the lightest color - it makes them stand out against the rest of the fur, and makes the fur seem a little shiny.

That's it! Works for every program. So if it's that easy, why does Yakovlev-vad's fur look so good? Practice.

Well, I never said it doesn't work, just that I'm not a SAI user myself

Haha, for some reason I thought you thought his tutorial was SAI-specific. I used to use photoshop, now I use krita. Do you have a favorite?

GIMP is the winner for me, though I focus more on traditional art.
