Hair Dressing!
Reverse side caption:
"Ayer's Hair Vigor is a most scientific, popular, and elegant hair-dressing, and is made from the choicest materials afforded by the markets of the world. It prevents the hair from becoming thin, faded, gray, or wiry; and preserves its richness, luxuriance, and color to an advanced period of life. It keeps the scalp cool, moist, and healthy, cures itching humors, and thoroughly removes dandruff. It tones up the weak hair-roots, stimulates the vessels and tissues which supply the hair with nutrition, strengthens the hair itself, and adds the oil which keeps the shafts soft, lustrous, and silky. No other toilet preparation is so widely and favorably known as AYER'S HAIR VIGOR."
Trade cards typically have a picture on one side and an ad on the other. They were the forerunner to modern business cards, and once companies began putting art on them, they were also among the first collectible cards. There were custom cards printed for specific products, and stock cards which could be used for any product. Trade cards were popular for medicines, sewing, and farm equipment, and a range of other products.

An absolutely gorgeous illustration!
The artist really sells this product with his depiction of a lovely lady with fabulous hair.
I'm very jealous of that skill because drawing hair always gives me so much trouble.
But this also inspires me to keep on drawing. Thank you for sharing these vintage beauties.
