To supplement my previous tutorials on drawing fabric, here is a closeup look at how to draw a pencil skirt on a female figure. First, outline the shape of the skirt and fill in the base color. Add shadows where the fabric curves away from the light and blend well. Add highlights where light hits the fabric, and again, blend well. If the color disappears when you blend it, you may need to go a few shades lighter. At this point, your skirt is done. If you like, you can add texture in Photoshop Elements. Here, I used the "craquelure" filter to give the skirt a rough texture.
