You are awfully right if you think that I put way too much detail and time into my mane, but I guess that's what makes them so loved. lol. So here is how I make them. (:
I'm actually kind of nervous about sharring this, because I'm seriously not good at explaining things... - or I end up taking 3 hours for something that could have been done in 3 minutes. Lmao.
So I guess that's why this first part is so long. Nevertheless, I hope you guys actually find this extensive tutorial a good mane-drawing aid. xD

So.. this definitely helps. I'm working on using your tips just now in a manip I'm trying to do. My issue is getting the shape right. After that, I can shade and highlight until the cows come home. That's not the issue. *sigh* I hate the horse I used. I would start over except I'm determined to redo the first manip I ever made just so I can compare and really see how much I've improved. *head/desk* At least I know my stock choosing skills have greatly improved. Oh well.. I'll just keep trying.

Thanks for then encouragement. I'm just a tad frustrated at the moment. I'm desperate need of inspiration. The original mane is just so stiff and straight. Trying to draw over it is becoming something of an issue. *sigh* I'll get it done... eventually. LOL!

I used this tutorial here . I did this my first day using a tablet and I can tell you that the only reason my mane/tail look even reasonably alright, is because of this tutorial!
