This is exactly what I was looking for. In the process of developing a comic, and, thinking ahead, I was worried about how to time and lay everything out. Thank you for this

I'm preparing to work on a comic and plan to do the scripting and art myself. It's going to be a big project, but I'm very glad I found this tutorial! It'll be very helpful. Thanks for uploading it!

thats a good tutorial
that gives me a new look at comics. I'm now gonna look at content density of each panel
one day i might try to do a strip... when i get a good idea, and i will definitely use this for a reference

"What you want to do with your life" huh? As in a comic scripter or just a writer?

Comic scripter. Or at least, that's my plan. Just being a writer would be good enough for me. As long as I can have fun making stories then I'll be happy.

Good man! It's always a pleasure to meet a fellow scripter on DA. If you want any advice, or any hints, just ask me. I'm always available.

Reading the part about narrative density, I have a question. What if I'm writing what I hope to be an on-going action comic, but the first issue has no real action aside from a one-sided stand-off that ends with no violence. Would it help that it's a part 1 to a 2 part story and the second part will have loads of action that the plot will have been building towards?

ZachValkyrie In reply to FreeMech [2013-05-03 19:30:52 +0000 UTC]
It would all depend on how much goes on in the two issues. Having little action in the first issue is alright, as long as there is sufficient drama and intrigue to make up for it. If you want a more in-depth appraisal, I can take a look at your script.

I'm still working on it. I haven't even completed writing the first issue yet. But I'd love to have you look at it when it's complete. I'm attempting to use your format but I'm finding difficulty in planning out the panels as vividly as you do. When I see them in my head they're moving but that isn't going to help me create a solid comic page so I'm trying to keep them still. If that makes any sense.

Are you doing the page outline first? It'll help you get all your ideas down at once.

It started out as an outline then I went in to too much detail. Yeah I know. I'm off to a bad start. But I think I'll try the outline again since I've gotten some ideas rolling.

Detail is alright, (you're going to have to get to it somewhere down the line after all) but just make sure you don't lose momentum when you're getting it all down.

Excellent! We need to focus a bit more on the writing aspect in a lot of our comic groups. It would be great to see more stuff like this submitted to the #ComicTeamUp group. Hopefully we can start encouraging more people to realize that the SCRIPT is the bones and foundation of a comic book and it's very important not to overlook that aspect of the comic creation process.
