Title: "Within Realization"Date Finished: 8.16.2006
My first major art piece in quite a while!
For this work, I was greatly inspired by Northwest Coast Native art, of which I think is totally amazing! It's slick, clean-edged aesthetic is very enchanting and gives off a powerful mystique. I think that it meshes rather nicely with anime cel-shaded art, and that's exactly what I have done here. The result is quite striking, don't you think? ^__^
I may try my hand at this style again, once I've read up on the Northwest Coast style a bit more.

Yeah, it would definitely help identify him better as Ichigo (of which he is actually!), but I went with the "grayscale" sort of look, since that's how his hair looks in the manga (though without the shading).

Just one question: Why "Within Realization"?

The title might make a little more sense if I reversed the words: "Realization Within". There are two entities depicted in the native style art, which exist within the individual here. Since they are drawn outside of this individual, you could say that what is within him has been realized on the outside.

His left wrist and arm look sorta thicker than it's supposed to but everything else is pretty hot.

It all comes together well, including some fine coloring and shading, and the use of multicolored British Columbia tribal art is a good touch.
I kinda like that kind of art, too. I've seen it used in Vancouver-related designs like the NHL Draft and All-Star logos for when each was held there, as well as an alternate Grizzlies logo, and even the Olympic logo. Such respect toward the natives is one of several things that attracts me to Vancouver and makes it one of the cities I want to visit sometime in my life.

Yeah, this native art style is quite amazing, I find. Through simple shapes and designs, such complex images can be created. And it's cool how it looks so seamless and fits together perfectly.
Vancouver would indeed be a city to look forward to visiting in the future! I've been stuck in Southern Ontario for all my life, so it'd be awesome to go see what other places in Canada are like.

Although I hadn't intended it to look like any other character than Kurosaki Ichigo, it does seem to look similar to characters from other series, given how "vague" the clothes and such are. It's kind of interesting that way.

The two "entities" seen in this image are meant to represent the two sides of Zangetsu, the name of the sword that this person wields. It's difficult to explain without going into tons of explanation! If you've heard of the manga/anime "Bleach", then this is supposed to be the main character of that series.

heh, well I've only read the first chapter, it was good but at the time I didnt have the funds to support buying it, anyway, I know a little about native art, and one of your crests looks like a whale(might not be) but I couldnt figure out what the other was, it kinda looks like a whale too, I was just wondering

They weren't meant to look like any particular animals; they were born from mere random aesthetic design choices! lol
