Toothless is owned by DreamWorks “How to Train Your Dragon,” as are the poses I’ve adapted for the tutorial. I own nothing.

While working on the further adventures of “How to PICK your dragon” a few of my DeviantART buddies asked me to draw a tutorial for Toothless.

So in honour of
and

I’ve made 4 basic tutorials of full-body Toothless. Enjoy!

Step 1: Toothless’ body is like a long tube weather sock. When he's angry, his back arches up really high. Make sure to make the tail long enough here.

Step 2: His legs are very curvy and completely FLAT at the bottom.

Step 3: Here, the toothless head is flat on the top and comes to a point at the bottom. Note the arrow in the middle—this is important as it gives him the 3D quality. Narrow eyes give him a ferocious focus.

Step 4: Add details like the flaps on his tail, horns, ears, and wings. There are more spokes on the bottom outside of the wings than closer to the body. Note ears are less pointy and taller than the horns.

Step 5: Erase any unneeded lines. Add little details like claws and the spiky horns up Toothless’ head and back.
