Description
The FFXIV designs always give my pen a workout, but it's so satisfying too see all the details come together (and then get covered up with a shadow -.-').
This here is a Dragoon OC created by a fellow named Tal Zamir.

Aw thanks so much! Funnily enough, the lineart is actually really sketchy. So it's awesome to know it comes together cleanly.

Haha - very well, my young pupil. Β Lesson 1: take shortcuts.
For real though, the reason these lines are so sketchy is simply because I got tired of drawing lineart (and felt like the sketch always looked better anyway). I certainly clean-up the sketch and use a blending mode to hide the loose lines. And I certainly don't want to rush a piece. But sometimes approaching it with speedy mindset gives the best result.

It's funny...I like doing lineart first when it comes to digital. I feel like I wouldn't know what to do without it. Too worried about making a lot of mistakes...but I guess I have to open myself up to make them so I can fix them.

Aha - yeah, that's a good approach. Sometimes it's easier to fix it than to make it perfectly the first time.
But as far as lineart goes - that was just an example. If lineart works for you, then art those lines like crazy!

Aw thanks! Having such a detailed outfit, I'm really glad it doesn't distract from the emotion.

Much appreciated! I'll totally take credit for the pose design, haha - but the outfit credit goes to game artists (who, indeed, do awesome work).

Oh cool, thanks! There's something I love about a fully armored character with just their head showing (not unlike a couple of gals we know ;D).
