I didn't delete it, after the base color step I make another layer above sketch layer and color on it...so the color will cover up the sketch..

Yes, the background are two different photo, just like doing matte painting...

Oh, I see. I don't say that's wrong, no! It just looks so good that I was wondering if I could use photos in digital painting myself to speed up the process or add more realism or is it looked down by professionals and they paint everything from scratch and make it look like photo.

yeah professionals soemtimes dont have the time or something else, so they use photos, but thats hard too, if you do it wrong it can look really bad, so yeah you must be careful.
