Description
This was the 4th project of my advanced drawing classfrom winter 2010 semester. (i was unable to get a completed photo of it until now because it was selected to hang up on my campus for a year! =
Anyway~
The Assignment description for this round is Fantasy/Dream(or nightmare)/Photo-copy.
Pretty much we have to "Compose an image which describes a fantasy, dream(or nightmare) or collaged image of a non-literary Space." whatever that means, create a dreamscape or abstract landscape using:
a: the figure (full or parts) (there's a hand in there and silleouettes)
b: An Animal (full or in parts) (foxes and a random ghost fish)
c: Vegetabe and/or plant (Mushrooms)
d: Archetecture (parts or a whole building) (Torii gate)
e: anything else we want (self explanatory)
also it says to "play with inter-changing effects of light, texture, scale geometry, pattern, natural and super natural phenomenon, etc." So pretty much free reign.
examples given were surrealist, Dadaists - Rene Mgritte, Max Ernst, Giorgio, D. Chirco..etc. I used Salvador Dali simply because he is one of my favorite painters and is a Surrealist, and just cause i could XD
Any and all materials are ours for the taking.
the size of the paper is 18x24" what kind, I'm not sure but it is a slightly yellow, like a tea stained color. [its taped to a larger board]
No like I'm quite proud of this piece, not only with it being hung in the school for a year, but simply because it just is sooooooo different from what i usually do.
I mean its creepy for one and rather surreal for another! o__o
But I like how I just went crazy with it as well and flinging the ink around the paper was super fun too (lol) hopefully I'll get around to making more stuff like this in the future.
I do fell like this piece is both finished and unfinished at the same time which I guess is both a gift and curse, but looking at it I feel as if there are things I could have done better and things that I could add and things that I could have taken out as well. Maybe I'll revisit this but that is doubtful since I never revisit pieces.
