Description

The story of Team Revival will begin after the end of Chapter 6, so as a result I have to finalize the stories of at least one of my other teams before then in order to make sure important details are laid out for their introduction. So, look out for that!

HUGE thanks to for helping me out by putting together the images in the "about" tabs - they looks gorgeous and I hate that I had to shrink them down in order to fit guhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Also now that I've redrawn her myself I think a lot of Sass's style got into Raydn here too. SASS don't mess with my GARBAGE STEEZ.

Raydn the Sableye    26 years, 2'11"

Naughtily mischievous, Raydn gets half her kicks from riling others up after she gets a read on them. The harder it is to crack through your tolerance for her, the more likely she is to take a liking to you - by pestering you every time she sees you, that is.

Even so, she knows when enough is enough and usually teases others with the best of intentions, trying to get them to lighten up and take things a little easier in life. She's done this multiple times with varying degrees of success - as a result Raydn has proven she's actually more clever than she lets on, even to herself.

Raydn doesn't like to be analyzed because she has a number of uncertainties in herself, especially after the loss of the only two Pokémon who she considered family (let alone friends) - uncertainties that she doesn't like to show. She has always been known as somewhat of a class clown, someone who can live her life (or afterlife) well and fully. Having her brain picked would affect that persona and damage the happiness she is, in some ways, fooling herself into experiencing.

Being a competitive sort, Raydn likes to challenge the physical abilities of the Pokémon she meets almost as much as she likes to break down their mental endurance to her antics. She's not a sore loser though, at least not if the stakes are along the lines of "just bragging rights". In fact, seeing others succeed gives her a personal satisfaction that's hard to put into words - not that she'd tell you about it anyway.

  PAST AND PRESENT

Raydn was brought up in a simple orphan care center in Tabira ever since she hatched from her egg, with no record of parents or lineage. She was often caught getting into trouble with the other kids, although to the young Sableye the concept of "not scaring others" or "picking on them" were foreign - it was in her nature to be an imp, and she was only having fun after all. As a result, the other kids began to shun and mock her, the latter of which she began to treat as a challenge; who could tease the other better?

Children came and went through the orphanage, but Raydn stayed the same. No parents ever came who could tolerate her brand of playfulness, though there were some who tried. There was a time where Raydn began to wonder if she really was abnormal, until the caretaker at the time reminded her that every Pokémon in the world was unique, and that was most important was to try to do the right thing.

Eventually Raydn was too old to stay in foster care anymore, and became a failure on the streets instead, always trying to get a new job to replace the one she lost for goofing off too much. That first year was especially hard, as Raydn knew that she was technically doing the work she was being asked to do - cleaning, babysitting, etc. - but her attitude, as always, was too much for anyone around her to handle. She nearly gave up and tried to reinvent herself as a model citizen, if it weren't for the intervention of Lola the Axew during a confrontation with an especially violent Salandit. Lola's defense of her, even pointing out that Raydn was only trying to help, renewed Raydn's resolve and from there, she and her new friend, along with Tellah the Taillow, began a journey together as a team in the Trackers branch of the Tabiran Guild.

It was a rocky start, as Raydn's taunting and teasing was difficult for both of her new acquaintances to get used to, even resulting in her being the butt of a shouting contest several times, although when one particular day passed in which Raydn commented passively that it was the longest time she had ever spent knowing a single 'mon, let alone two, Lola and Tellah realized just how alone their partner had been for most of her life. At that time, it had only been three months since the three had begun living together. From then on, Lola and Tellah treated Raydn as one of their own, and slowly but surely became a real family.

When the guilds were sent out to battle Gilgamarsh, it was the biggest danger any of them had faced. They weren't used to tackling a problem that big, let alone as part of a small army of 100, and had no real idea of what they were getting into. As a result, Tellah was unfortunately killed by a stray swipe of the witch's hand, and Lola was lost when she tried to revive him. The loss of her only family broke Raydn to the point that she became as emotionless and expressionless as an abandoned doll for the remainder of the battle.

The trip back to Tabira gave Raydn plenty of time to look back on her past actions and process what had happened. She decided that it was her inability to be a proper leader that caused her family to be killed, as well as inadvertently leading a former Keeper to break the code of the Mystics by defending his loved ones with magic after seeing Raydn lose here. Therefore it would be best for her to step down as a guild member.

She was stopped by Serris, a Scholars medic who had been present both in Fever Flats during the Gilgamarsh battle and in Tabira as Raydn reported on that battle to Addy for his newpaper. Serris was adamant that Raydn remain in the guild and take her friend, an Abra named Miyako, as her new partner - so adamant that they broke down the arguments Raydn had to give and berated her instead, telling her that her past experiences were exactly what both she and Miyako needed in order to progress as guilders. This was somewhat of a wake-up call for Raydn, though at the time she was mostly agreeing to take on Miyako as a partner in the hopes that, in their first mission, Miyako would see just how difficult being a guilder would be and quit before she got hurt.

Miyako the Abra    22 years, 2'04"

Calm and relaxed, Miyako prefers a gentler atmosphere where she has the means to rest and process her surroundings. Some might call this meditation, but to her it's more a means of just taking in absolutely nothing, a momentary lull to feel less exhausted in most circumstances.

Although not antisocial, she doesn't consider herself to be able to talk for long enough to have any real meaningful conversations with anyone that doesn't come from a similar mold and as a result has a very small and select group of friends. One of her biggest concerns is that her failure to talk with others will hamper her ability to live a meaningful life, as she believes that true value in living comes from the lives one touches in turn and the lessons that are passed down from that interaction.

This doesn't stop her from being herself, however. Miyako is methodical and coordinated, always preferring a well-laid plan over "going with the flow". If something happens to clash with her plans in a way that she doesn't consider to be to her benefit, she becomes uncooperative and sometimes even snappy. Those who know her best know that she can be spiteful and hold something of a grudge even in spite of overall companionship with another Pokémon, as having her way of life tampered with is in some ways an attempt to change her very soul.

  PAST AND PRESENT

Much of her life, while quiet and simple based on others' standards, strikes her as being fast-paced enough to keep her on her toes, as she was raised by her mother with a rambunctious older brother almost on her own, as their father was often away on guild duty. Though he eventually retired to stay home with the family they sometimes feel that the change came too little too late - by that time her brother had already moved out and was staying with his girlfriend in their own living space, and Miyako was preparing to strike out on her own as well. She now works as the primary (and nearly only) baker at a confectionery/deli called Pamtre Puffs and as a result has to complete a large number of the goods each day. This means that much of her downtime is spent resting and observing things around her as an outsider - which was exactly what led her to spotting Serris the Ditto in mid-transformation during some field work in town. This exposure led Serris to politely but firmly approach Miyako and demand that their true nature not be revealed to anyone - a demand which Miyako accepted just as politely, with a request to talk with Serris some more in the future.

The following meetings led Miyako to become close friends with the Ditto, finding that they both had a lot in common - something to prove to the world by doing more than what their species allowed - Miyako, for her part, feeling that staying a small Abra with little psychic power enabled her to focus on what was really important - her modern wisdom and common sense, as well as her ability to learn and to work with her hands rather than lifting things with magic spoons for the sake of convenience.

Miyako's biggest struggle is in holding up conversations with "down-and-dirty" types - being a bookish girl for most of her life, she and her more active and social brother Takayama rarely had much to relate with. It was because of this distance that she was averse to joining in a family get-together at the Wonder Room - one that the family had agreed to hold after the events of Gilgamarsh's arrest so that their father wouldn't be distracted by the action and excitement the returning guild would bring, and instead have the time only to himself and his family.

As they were separated, Miyako was alone when Tabira was invaded by the criminals who camped out in Glory's Peak. Her father had manager to reach her before she was seriously hurt, and his prior experience with guild work helped him to take on the attackers at first, but his age and the numbers against him eventually led to him suffering too many serious blows and he inevitably fell. Miyako was barely able to teleport herself and her dying father to safety in time to be given his final parting words to "be strong".

Miyako spent the rest of the day trying to decide what "being strong" meant for her, even having a long talk with Serris about the merits of fighting as opposed to just living like an ordinary citizen. Eventually, Miyako suggested that being in a guild was the best option for her because it would give her tasks that ensured she had both physical and mental exercises to work with, and pair her with at least one Pokémon who could keep her moving when her motivation was in short supply.

Later that same day, Serris whisked her out into the streets and introduced her to Raydn, a Sableye who had recently lost her old guild partners. She was cocky and arrogant to Serris and Miyako which at first put her off, but the more her friend argued the more Raydn revealed that she seemed not only to be a good fighter, but smart as well, enough to know when another Pokémon may or may not be prepared to march into battle. That encouraged Miyako to speak up, asking for a trade-off: in exchange for Raydn helping her to fight when the time came, she would use her own powers to save herself and Raydn from danger when it became necessary.

Raydn eventually gave in, but not without one final warning that being in a guild would lead to them becoming like family, and that Miyako would suffer even worse if and when her partner fell, if she didn't lose her own life first. That warning is still lurking in the back of her mind now...
