Haha, seriously, done with a pen? To be sincere, your hand seems firm when it comes to shading techniques, even though this would be pretty much a basic drawing; did you check some tutorials, or had some special classes, or you just developed it in time and with practice?

And good song to pick for inspiration, this "hope" seems to be a theme for many good songs; just until recently i had Leaving Hope from NIN in my head for like days, and as inspiration song for a drawing that apparently I won't get to finish any time soon (work is such a talent killer :/ )

Speaking about songs and drawing here, since they go along so well, I did remember of a band (they have a song called hope too), called Ayreon, maybe you heard of it; they have this album called Human equation; you might find it interesting, I find it quite fit to your drawing style and subjects of interest; Pain, Isolation and first of all Comatose (from another album) are some songs I recommend; I don't know why, but i somehow got reminded of their artwork and thought of sharing;
