12 Step Program for Knowledge1. Have come to an acceptance that our lives are irrational without the evidence to support our assertions and claims.
2. Have come to strive towards a higher truth that will help us stay sane and build a better future.
3. Made a conscious decision to not turn ourselves over to any dogma that suppresses our ability to think for ourselves and to make up our own decisions.
4. Made a conscious decision to understand human solidarity and the human condition to base our deep moral and ethical convictions.
5. We've recognized to happily accept it when we are wrong when the evidence supports it because the closer we are to the truth the more ultimately fulfilling.
6. Strive to see our own shortcomings and strive to better them.
7. Are humbly accepting of better knowledge when we see our own shortcomings.
8. Have compartmentalized ethically and morally what is harmful and what is constructive and alleviated those we found harmful to ourselves and others.
9. We make amends if we find ourselves in the wrong in scope of our understanding of what we know to be destructive to ourselves and others.
10. We make a conscious effort to continue this search for knowledge because we understand that clarity will bring a more fruitful future.
11. Through study and reflection, we strive to know more to better ourselves and our environment and to carry out our will for a better future here on this Earth.
12. From having a deeper connection and knowledge of our lives here, right now, we go forth to inspire and promote what we find to be truthful in effect raising our current condition right now.

Rather of having "Submit your fatih to a higher power" the 12 steps programs should have "Be critical towards informational sources" instead.

Yeah exactly. The 12 Step Program is heavily twined with that invisible man in the sky nonsense. Needs to be about the power within yourself. I think though that there are adaptations of the 12 step that don't care what you call your higher power, could be your doorknob, as long as you see something greater than yourself. I call that the universe, but hey! I'm not everyone.

Couldn't agree more. It's your inner strength, that little thing called will power and discipline.
I know a guy who once had to go on drug rehabilitation and one of the steps in the program was to submit his faith to a higher power or whatever. Unfortunatly, he like the other 86% of my country is atheist.
Don't you think it would be better for them to atleast adapt the program based on the majority of the people?
