60's Star Trek communicator, but who's counting? There's was no way to draw a flip-phone trigger-grill in the tiny middle of all that. Unlike poor Toby, who's still working from (the proper and stately) back-pack carried paper encyclopedias that tend to weigh them down so badly in bog conditions.

Oops-E!  "Ab" . . . Atomic Betty . . .  right.  That should have been obvious   Which of course means she's using a communicator

Three encyclopedias, in order of sinkability:

- Golden Book:  Not much of a difference

- World Book:  Could cause problems

- Britannica: Cement galoshes
