Description
Bobcat rug that was done some time last year. I think it's probably one of my better small cats!Enjoy!
Note: To Those it may concern, this animal was brought to me already dead with the wish to make it into something that would last virtually forever. I did not kill this animal, and just so the rest of it didn't go to waste, I cleaned the skeleton, which has been taken in my someone to put it back together.

On a more serious note, I really adore the colouring on these animals. They seem to have a pale ginger undercoat with pale to dark silver and brown on the top, not to mention that white floofyness of the chest and belly. 
It'd be a real honour to own the pelt of one of these cats one day.

Yeah...I know.... I dunno what people's fetish is with the frilly border....I personally do those by request only now, and try to push for a single rolled edge of suede or fabric piping!

Is it really nessasary to have a border, or can a rug do without it?

People like borders for a clean edge.... you don't need a border, but some people like to line the back so the leather doesn't get messed up.

Before you go on a rampage through my gallery, this was not a fur farm animal.
I could also say that fur is more eco friendly. Polyester puts out petrolium that kills plant life which houses all the animals we love.
Cotton, one of the most irrigated crops, causes a lot of run off pesticides. 10% of all pesticides used go into cotton crops alone, leave the soil so polluted that even life cannot grow or thrive there.
So there are bigger things happening in this world than most know.

i respect the fact that you do those things and that it's not harmful to the animals, however i want to ask you to put things like this on ideologically sensitive or something, because it really ruins my day seeing things like this, and i'm sure i'm not the only one. please. thanks and sorry for being arsy about it. :l

Not the artist here, but I am curious how you can find something that more or less honors the animal in an everlasting artwork rather than throwing it away ruins your day? Is it the fact that the animal died or that people wish to house such an item, which really just shows their love of the animal (as this is not a hunter's trophy as per the artist)? Just curious, here, really, because taxidermy to me has always been educational about the wildlife around us rather than inspiring to kill things.

making a rug out of a dead cat and walking over it honours it? well, whatever your view on it is, it ruins my day because i have different views about it. i'm not gonna go into the depths of my views on this here, but i think that putting it on ideological material would be respectful to others and their opinions.

The felt is a traditional look, and that is what the customer wanted. But I do like them better without the felt and just a protective backing. To me the felt makes it look really weird... almost cheaply done.... If it must have a border, I'd rather see it done in velvet or suede.

Yeah, I pretty certain my boss would LOVE to buy this from you for the shop. We have a number of bobcat skulls already for sale and the pelt like this would be awesome. It would sit next to the black bear and the grey wolf.

This is awesome. Really. I've seen a rather unusual number of taxidermy rugs, and this is really top-notch work. The expression is great, and the fur looks fantastic.

You should do one of my Great Dane when she goes! I totally wanted to make a rug of my Appaloosa when she died- my parents FLIPPED. I think it would of been a beautiful tribute to her

LOL! I'd need a hell of a lot of photos to get an expression right. But I am really hesitant about pets... because one has lived with them for so long, and then you get something back that will never play with you... never bark, or be there when you call. So some pet owners would find it very creepy.
I have however tanned pelts of pets before for those who have asked (2 cats, a hamster, and a goat)... just never mounted any.

Yeah- I have always heard not to do pets for that very reason- but I think having my dog, who is very placid and silly in a typical bear skin rug snarl face would be HI-LARRY-US! I could never reallly go through with it- but its fun to think about.
A goat would make and awesome floor rug- but it would take a few hamsters LOL!
