I used Simon LaGrieve, a supporting character from John Ostrander's Suicide Squad run (which I love) that was the team's psychiatrist for a while. New Titans is actually full of obscure and unexpected characters, because I am a huge nerd with an encyclopedic knowledge of the DC universe. I even included Danny the Street for a holiday special called "Miracle on Danny Street." I couldn't help myself with that name.

I also included some characters connected to Cyborg in the New Teen Titans comics that were left out of the original animated series: his father Silas Stone, his ex-girlfriend Marcy Reynolds, his former best friend Ron Evers (who I ended up doing really interesting things with), and volunteer counselor Sarah Simms. Working on New Titans actually made me appreciate the original character a lot more, especially since modern adaptations now charge his origin and get rid of his supporting cast except for his dad while also connecting him to the League instead of the Titans. And something from the animated series that I expanded on was his friendship with Raven, which I actually think is really underrated. In New Titans the two have a strong sibling-like relationship.

Hi, I’m the commissioner of this piece! In the series of fics I’m writing that these Titans are gonna appear in, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash (along with Speedy and Garth) actually make a few appearances and make up the members of Titans East! And, while Superboy was originally featured in the earlier drafts of the series, he had to be cut out as I couldn’t find a way to introduce him organically in a way that didn’t distract from the overall narrative. The series as a whole pulls mostly from the 80’s-era New Teen Titans comics and 2003 animated series in general, and I wanted to stick to that mindset in terms of characters and plots. But, once that’s all said and done, there’s a possibility that Superboy, along with the likes of Static, Blue Beetle, and revamped versions of the Super Friends characters similar to their Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice counterparts could be featured!
