Description
My reimagining of Captain Planet's Wheeler who is known here as Chase Wilson, but takes the name Wheeler because of his job which I will get to later.Wheeler was a New Yorker with his Parents and Brother when the world as he knew it ended. All around the world, disasters occurred and in New York the water levels had risen dramatically and tidal waves were flooding the city, killing millions. Wheeler and his brother, Jack, lost their parents when they were swept away in the floods and Jack later lost his life when he was helping out the military in the relief effort. A riot broke out over limited food and resources and Jack was unfortunately killed in gun fight with the military against the rioters and Wheeler was left alone. He grew up only able to get a job as a salvager, going underwater to the lost city he once knew and collecting anything valuable he could find and sell. He was especially good at finding tires and wheels for people who needed something good for floating and that's how he earned his name Wheeler. One day Wheeler's stuff gets stolen and with his livelihood gone, he seeks to track down the thief, but instead becomes part of an incredible journey with four other teens that will restore the world back to it's former glory.
Wheeler is a survivor. He'll do whatever it takes to make it to the next day. He's an expert at using anything around him to his advantage and jury rigging devices together to make something new and awesome. Wheeler is quick witted and a bit of a smart aleck, but deep down he's willing to help anyone in need especially families since they tend to remind him of the one he lost.
With his Fire Ring, Wheeler can control Fire as well as Heat. Wheeler is capable of creating balls of fire, flame blasts, streams of fire, inferno tornados, and heat waves. Wheeler is also capable of using his ring to propel himself in the sky like a rocket.

You know, since the first time I saw the original show, a question always bugged me... Why a FIRE ring?! I mean, the planeteers are all about saving the environment, but in what way does fire help?! That's like bringing a bazooka to a tea party! Don't get me wrong, the original and your version is great, but it doesn't add up. Why would Gaia give someone a ring that can create the most destructive force in the world? In fact, in the original, there were even episodes about house fires!
So, this got me thinking. I have a few possibilities for your reboot:
1. The ring was made by Zorm and was given to Wheeler, who, like the rebel he was, used it to wreak havoc on the apocalyptic world. But, Wheeler slowly grew a liking to the Planeteers and joined them.
2. The ring was made by Zorm, but, Gaia stole it and given it to Wheeler.
3. Wheeler stole the fire ring from Zorm.
4. The ring Gaia made was originally supposed to be of plant, but accidentally made it fire. But, Wheeler found it useful anyways and kept it the way it was.
Any thoughts on this?

Well my understanding is that the rings were always meant to represent the elements (minus Heart) and all of them are essential to human survival (even Heart has its place, with trust and empathy towards others). Fire is more than destruction, it gives us warmth and in a way led to the rise of humans with them harnessing the power of fire not only for light in the darkness, but for defense against animals and enemies and to properly cook food. Control of fire was a pivotal point for humanity.

True, true. And it makes perfect sense for your series. Since civilization is lost, fire would represent as a rebirth to mankind and the Earth itself.

If there is a live action Captain Planet movie following the path of Power Rangers, who from North America would play him?

While this outfit of Wheeler's is good, I still miss him in that uniform.
Wasn't he a street kid in Brooklyn?

After summoning CP, he should wield a wrist-mounted flamethrower.

Only Linka & Ma-Ti are left.
Will a sixth planeteer show up after?

Yup and two more villains between them and I'll probably also do Gaia
Probably not. I'm not sure what to do if I included a sixth one.

And CAPTAIN PLANET!
I wish there was a sixth planeteer from Australia. Think of any element that can be used.

I'll try but I want to stay as close to the original as I can and not inject out of nowhere stuff.

Perhaps they could have that soldier guy taht appeared in a few episodes be the Australian guy? Basically he's not with an element, but he could be the guy who plays mentor for them?
...This guy:

Well, if I include him, he won't be clean shaven or be sporting a green vest, pants, and boots. He'll have a beard, maybe a long coat and look like wandering scavenger.

Makes sense to me. He'd likely look like an old war veteran and maybe the beard could be trimmed some (if maybe a bit crooked as to make sense with his limited resources)

So I take it Wheeler's role is something other than being "The guy who's always wrong" here?

Yup, everyone, including Wheeler, is going to be more than the one note characters they used to be.

Yeah, it seemed like no one would care about saving a world that seems fine, so here, I made it so the world is already ruined and it's up to the planeteers to help restore it.

Making Wheeler a pyromancer for this reboot makes a whole lot of sense here, given the element he's in charge of.

Zigwolf In reply to TUFFAgentShepherd [2016-05-18 16:35:40 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, since all the others have more control over what their element is capable of, I thought it would good to think up some new ways he can control fire besides what he used to do in the show.

Reading the profiles and seeing this is set in a post-apocalypse world, it's reminding me of that ill-fated Dark Planet movie.
