Description
2 hour speed paint. Photoshop CS5 + Intuos2 with a few of the more "realistic" brushes.I wanted to take some time to step back from my recent work, and more importantly from the techniques I usually just fall back onto and what better way then to just practice with some new brushes. I set myself a strict time window, brush set and palette.
Don't look too close, its VERY rough brushwork. Feel and lighting were more the goal here. Came out ok tho

The roughness of the brush strokes adds to the tension in the piece, very cool. You did all of that in photoshop?

that is sick! I really like the fluid and ethereal feeling of it... it really feels like it pops!
I think this would also be great for a metal band t-shirt or something.

I actually think the roughness helps pull off the darker feel of the drawing.
Nice!

Very nice! Beautiful.
Amazing how decomposing the face works well to have it blended as a whole in one's brains. I like the texture / feel of the darkness of the strokes (skull and shirt among the rest.

Not sure if it was one of your goals, but the placing of the skulls and the tilt of his/its teeth make it look like a rather endearing grin. Cute, actually. It made me smile.

Just curios because I no nothing about the process of speed painting. You state that there is rough brush work, I am assuming that is because its a speed painting, That seem a given to me. I think like most of your work you did a bag up job.

yup, i kinda forgot that i obviously sacrificed detail for speed. But in a lot of ways its a nicer end result. I find it has a good feel and vibe, which maybe fine detail would spoil.
I am my own harshest critic tho
