One of the tutorials that I think is really imaginative and helpful at the same time. I can see where to start and then eventually leads to the end result of the wings which can be helpful considering I'm starting to learn how to draw bird wings. The end result of the wings are very colorful and detailed that you truly knew how to draw. I also like the step by step process, it's detailed yet simple and easy to understand. I'll certainly use your tutorial the next time I start drawing wings again. Keep it up and good work.

yea its based on my own observations and stuff iv'e read about wings,

and to everything its easier to start with shapes then add stuff on top of the shapes.

wings its simply moving plates under or ontop of eachother as a base then make them feathers

I don't quite get the bottom, you show both the secondary feathers going over the primary when closed, and how I've always thought it was proper with the primary going over the secondary.

Don't know if I'll ever use these (my desire to draw is hampered by life and lack of time) but it's nice to know they're there if I need them!

This is a great tutorial. Tat is interesting how you color coded the kinds of feathers. A real bird wouldn't have a color pattern like that, but that isn't important for the purposes of the tutorial. I know about the anatomy of bird wings already. Still I find this a great way to review. I have learned that the alula can be folded down. That does explain why I can't find it when looking at some bird photos. Eagles and vultures tend to fly with spread out wing feathers. The feathers look like spread out fingers. This is a case where the alula is particularly prominent. It sticks out just like a thumb. Now is a really good time to review. I plan to do petrel-like creatures tomorrow. They have bid wings that are very long, elaborate and exaggerated.
