So I managed to get some time for drawing in between all my uni work XD good times~I wanted to give cell shading a try because I've found that I struggle a lot with deciding where to place my shadows, I sometimes cheat by blending too much so that it's not very clear but this stopped me from doing that.
I also tried choosing better colours for the shadows, the idea was to make all the shadows colder but I found that to be a bit of a challenge, so if anyone has some crits on that it'd be much appreciated XD
Oh and the coat, I know I said I was gonna give Rin a big overhaul but this isn't it XD I just felt like drawing a big coat

yeah, I get that. Hard to fully settle on a design, they sort of just continuously shift as you get more experience, and new interests.

It was fun to draw XD I felt like drawing something big and heavy looking so it didn't necessarily have to follow the character's body, was good c : lots of room for silhouette changes

Gosh I just love Rin so much, especially the way you do her.
I remember reading something about how shadows got less saturated as they got deeper, so maybe that can help you?
I think if you check out www.thecandyjar.tumblr.com you can find some good colour tutorials. There might be one you're looking for.
