Description I made this for this week's Dumbfish Studio Throwdown.

The prompt was the create a character using some of the following themes: Robot, Fire, Pirate, Water, Samurai, Rock, Cowboy, & Air.
I tried incorporating the following:

Pirate: (obvious)
Robot: I turned him into a cyborg of sorts with steampunk inspired bronze parts.
Water, Fire, & Air: When I think of these three elements, my mind goes to steam. His arm in particular is powered by steam pneumatics from a flame that heats the water in his forearm-chambers. In addition, you can see the steam coming up from his newly slain foe in front of him.
Samurai: Not sure if this counts, but instead of a cutlass I made him wield a samurai-inspired sword.

I had a lot of fun making this one, particularly experimenting with the primary color scheme. Altogether I used watercolors pencils, prisma markers/pencils, white acrylic, and ink.

Hellyeah, man!

This guy is wicked.

I like all the details you brought into him- it really makes him tell his tale on sight.

The fluid and thumb on that arm are so awesome- I would've never thought of that.

The coloring in the hair is cool too.

How did you bring the white back in?

Thanks! For the white steam, I watered down some acrylic and applied it with some qtips and a foam brush. It took a couple layers, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I would have never thought of that.
